Managing Stress

In order to manage stress, it's important to understand the signs of stress. Read below to learn about the signs as well as tips for coping with stress in general and specifically with exam stress and anxiety.

Signs of Stress

According to the Cleveland Clinic (2020), stress is the body's reaction to "any change that requires an adjustment or response." These reactions can be physical, mental, or emotional. It's important to understand some stress is good and motivating; however, stress can become negative when it's constant and there is no relief. This constant stress can wear you out physically and emotionally. Here are some signs of negative stress to be aware of.

  • Dizziness or generally feeling "out of it."
  • Headaches
  • Indigestion
  • Changes in appetite
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Tiredness and exhaustion.
